Strasbourg, France

Strasbourg’s location makes for a lovely day trip from Frankfurt, and that’s exactly what we decided to do last weekend. For reference the city lies on the French side of the German-French border, just west of the Black Forest. Over its history, this medieval town has changed hands between the two countries several times.

Two major highlights of the city are the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg built from 1187 to 1439 and the Ill River that encircles the old town. Around most of it is a nice river walk from which you can stroll around town. Both sides are surrounded by impressive, old buildings designed in distinct Franco-German architecture.
