Hochheim is a town that is located on the Main River and is considered a center for winemaking in this region. The Romans introduced wine growing to the area during their time of rule. It is now a major part of the local economy, both for producing grapes and wine, and for wine tourism. There are wine tasting vineyards, boutique hotels, and bed and breakfasts in and around town.

A good Hock keeps off the doc!
British proverb
This is a quote you see often in the Rheingau wine growing region of Germany. “Hock” is taken from the first part Hochheim and it is a reference to the delicious and nutritious Rhine wines made in the area, which are mostly of the Riesling variety.
